Linn County has 5 full-time deputies who, under the direction of the Sheriff and Chief Deputy, patrol all 621 square miles within its borders. These deputies are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. LCSO deputies are responsible for responding to calls for services, regardless of the danger or the time of day. They will also be out in the community in all kinds of extreme weather.

LCSO deputies patrol all county and state roads providing a visible presence as a proactive measure to help deter crime. They are responsible for enforcing civil laws, criminal laws, and traffic laws. They investigate felonies, misdemeanors, and infractions. In addition, they also serve all civil and criminal process papers within the county.

All calls for service are responded to based on the priority of the situation. Please keep in mind that Linn County covers a large area and response times may vary depending on their location and the number of calls being handled at the time the call is received. While our office strives to provide the most professional and expedited services possible, we do have a limited number of staff and we are dedicated to ensuring we address each issue presented with each call.

For non-emergency calls for service or to have a deputy dispatched, please contact Linn County E-911 Dispatch.

Each member of the Linn County Sheriff's Office works for the chief law enforcement of the county, the Sheriff, who is elected by the citizens. Our main priority is to ensure that we are fulfilling our obligations as dictated by state statute and providing the citizens with the best protection possible. This is not possible without the close working relationship between our office and the citizens of the county. Therefore, Sheriff Henke welcomes any ideas and involvement of the citizens when it comes to reducing crime and improving public safety.
